Riverfront Park: Parking and Pedestrian Traffic

Non Event Parking – Parking is available inside the park during normal park hours. The Riverfront Park overflow lot is located directly south of the park entrance.  These lots are accessible from Rock Street, with the overflow lot also being accessible from Elm Street.

Parking During Events and Concerts:

Event Parking Level A (up to 700 people) – Riverfront Drive remains open at all intersections.  Lots 16, 17 & the Riverfront Park overflow lot can be accessed from Elm Street. Lots 12, 14 & 15 can be accessed from Riverfront Drive.  Elm Street will be closed to vehicle traffic after the lots have reached maximum capacity.  On-street parking is available on all streets with the exception of Elm Street.

Pedestrians walking to the park are encouraged to cross Riverfront Drive at Elm Street and use Rock Street to access the park or use one of the access trails located along the Minnesota River.

Event Parking Level B (701 – 4000 people) – Riverfront Drive closes to all left hand turns with the exception of the Elm Street intersection.  Rock St. is closed to vehicle traffic except for authorized vehicles.  Lots 16, 17 & the Riverfront Park overflow lot can be accessed from Elm Street. Lots 12, 14 & 15 can be accessed from the northbound lanes of Riverfront Drive.  Elm Street will be closed to vehicle traffic after the lots have reached maximum capacity.  On-street parking is available on all streets with the exception of Elm Street.

Guests are also encouraged to utilize the free parking provided for them in the downtown ramps.  Free shuttle service can be utilized with pickup and drop off points on the west side of the Verizon Wireless Center with nonstop service to the park entrance.

Pedestrians walking to the park are encouraged to cross Riverfront Drive at Elm Street from the south and Rock Street from the north.  Please use Rock Street to access the park. Alternately, pedestrians can also use one of the access trails located along the Minnesota River.

Handicap Accessibility – While all of the surface lots and parking ramps contain handicap parking, guests needing assistance are encouraged to park in the Riverfront Park overflow lot, as it provides the closest distance to the park.  Those guests that are utilizing the free shuttle service to the park will be dropped off and picked up in this lot.

Park Directions

Coming from the North, take HWY 169
(Minneapolis, St. Paul, Hudson, WI)

Follow this highway to HWY 14 East. Take the Riverfront Drive exit and turn right onto Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive south 1.4 miles to Rock Street and turn right. Or take HWY 22 (St. Peter, Kasota) continue following this highway, which turns into Riverfront Drive and follow it south to Rock Street and turn right.

Coming from the South, take HWY 169
(Blue Earth, Algona, IA)

Take the Riverfront Drive exit and turn right onto Riverfront Drive. Drive north on Riverfront Drive 2 miles and turn left onto Rock Street. Or take HWY 22 (Wells, Minnesota Lake, Mapleton). Follow to HWY 14 West and to Riverfront Drive exit turning left onto Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive south 1.4 miles to Rock Street and turn right.

Coming from the East, take HWY 14
(Waseca, Owatonna, Rochester)

Take this highway west to Riverfront Drive exit, turning left onto Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive south 1.4 miles to Rock Street and turn right. Or take HWY 83 (Waldorf, St. Clair) Turn right onto HWY 14. Follow this highway west to the Riverfront Drive exit, turning left onto Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive south 1.4 miles to Rock Street and turn right. Or take HWY 60 (Elysian, Faribault). This highway will merge with HWY 14. Follow HWY 14 west to the Riverfront Drive exit, turning left onto Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive south 1.4 miles to Rock Street and turn right.

Coming from the West, take HWY 14
(New Ulm, Sleepy Eye, Marshall)

Follow east to the Riverfront Drive exit, turning right onto Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive south 1.4 miles to Rock Street and turn right. Or take HWY 60 (Worthington, Windom). HWY 60 will merge with HWY 169 North. Follow this highway to the Riverfront Drive exit. Turn right onto Riverfront Drive going north 2 miles to Rock Street and turn left.
